Atlassian first told customers about this increase on August 28, and it takes effect in a few days. For a big company it is a line in next year's budget. For a small agency, a freelance dev team or a startup paying Jira and Confluence by card every month, it is a higher charge on the very next bill, and a bigger one at the next annual renewal.
This guide covers which Atlassian products change, what the increase means per user in dollars, what monthly and annual customers can still do before October 13, and how to keep the payment itself from failing, which is the part that hurts most when a team works from outside the US.

Atlassian's own pricing FAQ confirms the date and the products: Teamwork Collection, Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management (Service Collection), Atlassian Guard, Bitbucket Premium and Jira Product Discovery. The update applies to new purchases, renewals and upgrades. The percentages below come from Atlassian partner summaries of the published price tables. For Jira and Confluence, the lower end (about 7%) applies to smaller organizations and the top end to sites with thousands of users.
| Product | Standard | Premium | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jira | +7–10% | +7–10% | +8% |
| Confluence | +7–10% | +7–10% | +8% |
| Teamwork Collection | +7–10% | +7–10% | +8% |
| Jira Service Management / Service Collection | +7.5% | +7.5% | +10% |
| Jira Product Discovery | +5% | +5% | — |
| Bitbucket | — | +10% | — |
| Atlassian Guard | +3% | +5% | — |
Bitbucket Premium also drops its five-user minimum, so very small teams pay only for the seats they actually use. Separately, Atlassian is moving its AI features to included monthly allowances, such as Rovo credits. Its FAQ says you are never charged beyond that allowance unless a billing admin turns on extra usage, so check that setting if more than one person manages your site.
What It Means per User, in Dollars
Here are today's monthly-billing prices from Atlassian's Jira and Confluence pricing pages, next to an estimate at the 7% that applies to most small teams. Atlassian rounds its own tables, so treat the right-hand column as a guide and check your bill for the exact figure.
| Plan | Per user / month now | From Oct 13 (est. +7%) |
|---|---|---|
| Jira Standard | $7.91 | about $8.46 |
| Jira Premium | $14.54 | about $15.56 |
| Confluence Standard | $5.42 | about $5.80 |
| Confluence Premium | $10.44 | about $11.17 |
Take a 12-person team on Jira Standard plus Confluence Standard. Today that is $13.33 per user, or about $160 a month. At +7% it becomes about $171 a month: roughly $11 more each month and about $134 more over a year, before any local tax. A small number on its own, but it lands on top of every other tool that went up this year, which is why it is worth an hour of review now. Our quarterly subscription audit checklist is a quick way to run that review across your whole stack.
Teams of 10 or fewer have a cheaper way out: Jira and Confluence both keep a Free plan for up to 10 users. You lose features such as user roles, larger storage and paid support, so it fits a small team that only needs boards and docs.
Monthly or Annual: What You Can Still Do
Last days at the old price
Monthly customers can ask for an annual quote at today's price. Count your active users.
New list prices start
Monthly bills, new purchases, upgrades and annual renewals from this date use the new prices.
Old-price quotes run out
A quote requested before Oct 13 can't be extended past this date, and payment must land before it expires.
- On a monthly plan: any bill dated on or after October 13 uses the new price. You can't renew a monthly plan early, but you can ask for an annual quote before October 13 at today's price. Atlassian honors that quote until it expires, never later than November 11, and only if payment arrives in time.
- On an annual plan: an auto-renewal on or after October 13 is charged at the new price. Early renewal is only possible inside the renewal window before your end date.
- Planning an upgrade? Moving to a higher plan or user tier, or adding a new Atlassian product, on or after October 13 uses the new list price. If you were going to do it anyway, do it this week.
- Remove inactive users. Atlassian charges for every licensed user. On a monthly plan, deactivating people who left or never log in lowers the next bill straight away; on an annual plan it lowers the renewal.
Only lock in an annual quote if you are confident about your team size for the next year. A year paid up front is cheaper per month, but it is one large charge, and that is exactly the kind of payment a bank card is most likely to stop.
Paying Atlassian From Outside the US
Atlassian bills Cloud subscriptions in US dollars, and a card is the simplest way to pay a monthly plan. For teams in India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt and many other countries, that is where things go wrong: a local card blocks a recurring dollar charge from a foreign merchant, or the bank flags a larger-than-usual annual payment. A failed payment is the last thing a team wants to discover in the middle of a sprint.
The fix that works for most small teams is a separate card used only for team tools. SiraPay fits that job: a privacy-first virtual card you can open without a forced KYC process, with no ID upload or face scan, that runs on Visa at 150M+ merchants and is used by people in 100+ countries. You fund it with crypto or a supported top-up, keep the balance a little above the next Atlassian bill, and the team's main bank card never sits inside another vendor's billing system. Our guide for small agencies paying for SaaS seats shows how to split tools across cards, and the developer AI tools guide covers the rest of a dev team's stack.
Two honest caveats. Atlassian and its payment processor decide which cards they accept, so no card can promise approval. And a funded-in-advance card makes this increase easy to spot: if the new price is higher than the balance, you see a decline you can fix in a minute instead of a surprise on a statement. Every SiraPay fee and limit is listed on our fees and limits page, and our guide to spending online worldwide explains how the card works at checkout.
Quick Answers
When does the Atlassian price increase start?
October 13, 2026, Pacific Time, for new purchases, monthly bills, upgrades and annual renewals from that date.
Is the Jira Free plan going up?
No. The Free plan is not on Atlassian's list of affected plans and still covers up to 10 users.
Can I keep the old price?
Monthly customers can request an annual quote before October 13. It is honored at the old price until it expires, and never past November 11, 2026.
Why does my Atlassian card payment fail?
Usually because the card blocks recurring foreign charges in US dollars, or the bank flags a large annual payment. A separate card funded ahead of the bill avoids both.
Final Thoughts
A 7% rise on Jira and Confluence will not break a small team, but paying for seats nobody uses, missing the quote window or having the payment bounce on a blocked card all cost more than the increase itself. Count your users, decide monthly or annual this week, and put the bill on a card that is ready for it.
